This was one of our favourite arcade machines at Walton Pier back in the day!
Morgana was a fortune teller coin-op that appeared in the early 1970's. It was released by both Bally and by Bacchus. These games had a Styrofoam head which was white with no face and a projector with a film strip. When you inserted your coin it would trigger the modified projector to play one segment of the film revealing a fortune projected on the head to make it look like it was alive.
The legend says:
"Her image captured by a beam of light, Morgana speaks her prophecies across the vast spaces that separate her body from the life essences - a force that has been sustained electronically in order to preserve her uncanny prognostications.
Morgana’s strange gift first developed at the age of 7 years when a tragic fire destroyed her parent’s farmhouse near Budapest. Their lives were saved by the young child, who warned them hours before the fire broke out. Since that day her powers became more widely recognised. Today her disembodied image speaks its predictions for your personal entertainment."
Here is a really cool video from Bholenath's Horrolog of the machine in action.
And you can find a restoration of the original film on MechanicalArcade.com.
