P. C. Philpott Ltd was a really useful shop for caravan owners, locals or beach hut owners, selling a wide variety of essential items, such calor gas, portable stoves, hardware, tools, paint and other essential homewares.

Owned by Leonard Smith-Gillard, his wife Edith and his sons Geoffrey and Jeremy - in the early days they used to deliver calor gas… by bicycle!

It was based at 57 High Street for over 40 years and had many loyal customers!

We often get asked why our mug says "P. C. Philpott with a large capital D, and small capital letter D - with superscript styling... This is because the signage for many years used the alternative abbreviation of Ltd - which in those days was the very formal LD.  Which can be seen in these photos taken from Putman's Old Walton Archive.

Vic’s Dad (a keen DIYer and caravan owner) also used to buy loads of stuff there and enjoy a wander round.

This high quality mug features a design from our High Street range.

Mug is microwave and dishwasher safe.
