Walton's Regal Cinema was situated at 22 High Street, and was built on the site of Walton Lodge.

It opened on the 5th May 1934 - showing a German film with English subtitles called 'The Blue Mountain'.
It had its official public opening 2 days later: showing a film called 'Every Woman's Man' starring Myrna Loy and Max Baer. It is very hard to find any information about this film though because MGM later changed the name of the film to 'The Prizefighter and the Lady'.

This is a replica of a badge that was given to members of the Regal's Children's Club.

When the Regal Cinema closed in the 1960s, Woolworths was built on the site, and was later replaced by Tesco when it closed in the late noughties, which still stands there today.

There is a fascinating video all about the history of the cinema (and Walton's other local cinema: The Kino) on You Tube.

Presented on an Oh My Naze! backing card.
