Located in Valley Road, Clacton, Valley Farm camping ground was established prior to WWII.

An advertisement from A.G Scale circa 1936 lists the following prices and features: Camping 6d per night, per person, Motor cars 6d per night, Caravans for hire on field from 25/-per week. Free mains water, firewood can be supplied, and carting from station at reasonable charges, plus saddle horses and riding track.

Valley Farm Camping Ground Ltd. was legally registered on the 28th January 1949 under the terms of the Companies Act, 1948 by two directors: Noel Pawsey, an incorporated accountant and Claude Chaston, a building contractor, both of Clacton-on-Sea.

Within a few years this particular site would develop into Valley Farm Caravan Park

Following the patterns of other sites, a membership club was soon added, Valley Farm Club was registered in 1956 by Arthur Reed.

The 60s saw further improvements added: restaurants, shops, a swimming pool, and entertainment!  Film and bingo clubs, a children’s playground, children’s room, puppet show, fish bar, turf accountant, amusement arcade, site photographer and more were also later added!

Various managers took charge of the camp over the years,  among them Ron Covell (general manager), Jim Mc Coy (deputy manager), and the entertainments manager was the famous Ronnie Mills who acted as compere for the talent shows and performed with his orchestra in the club house. Famed for being smartly dressed, he wore an evening suit, bow tie and carnation in his lapel.  Ronnie’s band are remembered for playing favourites such as March of the Mods, the Lambeth Walk, and always finishing up the night with The Last Waltz’.

In the 70s Len Reed became manager at Valley Farm.

Park Resorts now owns the site, as well as several others in Tendring.
